John Fowler Memorial Cup 2006

16th April 2006 - John Fowler Memorial Cup Final

Tollegion 2 - 4 Bayern Monkwick

Wivenhoe Town FC, Broad Lane, Wivenhoe

Referee: J.Morris
Assistants: M.Ainger & R.Bowman

Both teams started brightly but Bayern Monkwick opened the scoring after about 15 minutes when Steve Foley chipped the ball into the net fromjust inside the penalty area.

Bayern followed this up shortly afterwards with a good move down the left side of the pitch to take a 2-0 lead.

Tollegion were seeing plenty of possession and pushed forward at every opportunity but on the half hour a foul in the Tollegion box led to a penalty which Sean Backer converted to make it 3-0 at the interval.

In the second half Tollegion moved up a gear and an early goal by their captain pegged the score back to 3-1.

With Tollegion having plenty of possession and creating several chances their captain scored again from close range.

Inside the last 15 minutes Bayern Monkwick hit them on the break with a well taken goal by Steve Foley who blasted the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
