Practitioners & Employment
The nursery provides a high staffing ratio to ensure that children have sufficient individual attention required to guarantee nursery care and education of a high quality.
The nursery splits the children into two group based on age (and where appropriate abilility)and these are overseen using, at a minimum, the following adult to child ratio;
- children under 3 years of age: | 1 adult : 5 children |
- children between 3 and 4 years of age : | 1 adult : 8 children |
Our practitioner team of twenty-one (21) currently has nine (9) holding appropriate childcare qualifications recognised by Ofsted (CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice or equivalent) or above, one (1) holding a level two qualification, three (3) are working towards their level three and two (2) towards level 2.
Practitioners training meets all regulatory requirements.
In addition we aim to ensure that all of our practitioners hold qualifications appropriate for their position within the group.
The nursery budget includes an allocation towards training costs.
A key person system has been adopted to ensure the children and their families/carers have a specific practitioner available for consultation and discussion.
Regular practitioners meetings provide opportunities for practitioners to undertake curriculum planning and to discuss the children's progress or any difficulties.
We work towards an equal opportunities employment policy , seeking to offer job opportunities equally to both women and men, with and without disabilities, from all religious, social, ethnic and cultural groups.
We support the work of our practitioners and identify their ongoing training and development needs by means of monitoring.
We are committed to recruiting, appointing and employing practitioners in accordance with all relevant legislation and best practice.
